Parking in Havant
By wingold92 | Sunday, October 31, 2010, 15:58
I have just returned from visiting relatives in Havant this afternoon. As usual it took a fair amount of time to negotiate the crowded traffic system into the town which is always a bit of a bind but was even more annoyed when it took me a good twenty minutes of circulating around the high st and out towards Bedhampton before I could find somewhre to park. My relatives who I was visiting tell me there are to be further parking restrictions imposed from the council with even more double yellow lines making it even more difficult in the future. Am I the only visitor or resident to Havant that has this problem and if not why is there no official means of objection to these projections.

Havant Parking Problems

Umm there's quite alot of parking in Havant, It all depends on where your wanting to go. The Car parks within walking distance are Leigh road ( over 200 spaces ), St George street ( 50 spaces ), East Pallent ( 60 spaces ), The arts centre ( over 60 spaces) and these are without the Meridian Centres 400 spaces or the multi story car park in Bulbeck road with another 400 spaces. Then you have the new retail parks and Tesco superstore with even more spaces. . Wow it sounds like I'm going on, bit I'm not it's just there is quite alot of parking in and around Havant town centre and usually I'm the first to complain! but on this occasion I think you were just unlucky

ReportSorry to hear about your parking problems - There are a few car parks in Havant you could have gone to. The meridian centre are open till 4 on a sunday and don't charge and there is a pay and display near the station and over in the retail park near KFC and Aldi. I do realise it is more difficult than ever to park in the town and you are on strict time restrictions. I don't think it will get any better and most town centres are like this now. It makes the free parking in big superstores more appealing if I'm honest.
