Havant Garden Centre, Spring plants and much more

Havant Garden centre in Bartons road has some really lovely spring plants in stock now. Lots of Tulips and Daffodils and summer bedding plants. Inside there is a new Edinburgh Woollen Mill concession and there are lots of nice ideas for gardening inspired gifts. I think the cafe has now improved as I had a nice coffee in there and the servoce was very good.

The cafe in Havant Garden Centre

We had a most unpleasant experience in this cafe a few days ago. This is the place; it used to be called Wyvale. http://www.thegardencentregroup.co.uk/on/demandware.store/Sites-Wyevale-Site/default/Stores-StoreDetails?storeID=Havant I asked the serving girl the price of some fruit and she replied, "I dunno" and shrugged her shoulders. I asked if two plums were equivalent to one apple and again, she said, "I dunno, I''ll ask my manager when she gets back." "When will that be? "I dunno" Shrug. I was starting to get angry. "Five minutes? Next Tuesday?" "I dunno." Shrug. We went through the checkout and she suddenly charged for the fruit. I asked how she had manged to do that when she had said she had no idea what the fruit cost. She said she looked for the cheapest price. She had not negotiated with us, nor suggested one small plum might not be "the portion". Hubby said, "So you plucked a number out of the air?" Shrug. I rolled the fruit to her and asked her to remove the price off the bill and we paid up. I asked her to send the manger over when and if she returned. When the manager returned she held the door open so her conversation with the girl could be heard by those in the cafe. Good management or what? Then the manger came down om me for having a card which had not worked at the till (this was in fact the couple before us, who had also got angry at the till girl''s attitude ) and for "throwing items" at her staff. The manger was highly defensive of her staff and kept interrupting me until I told her she was rude, had to listen to our side of the story and needed to better train her staff. We heard the girl was only there to cover sick leave, was not the right person to deal with customers, and that the manger had only been gone 5 minutes. That was untrue as we had queued, heard the previous couple get angry about the girl''s inability to deal with the card situation, and had almost finished our drinks by the time she returned! The manager blamed us for the girl crying, failing to see it was her poor management that had led to the whole situation. It was unpleasant and we will not return.
