Where to report abandoned dogs in Havant this Christmas

A dog is for life, not just for Christmas - This Slogan was created by Clarissa Baldwin, Dog's Trust UK Chief Executive, in 1978 but is still as relevant today.

Dogs are for life, not just for Christmas...
Every year thousands of children plead for puppies as christmas presents but unfortunately the novelty in many cases wears off pretty quickly as owning a dog requires a lot of effort which they are not prepared to give.
Havant Borough Council have seen an increase in abandoned dogs being taken into the council's kennels this year and want to remind people to think twice before buying a dog as a gift this Christmas. Many dogs get abandoned after the festivities are over and the realisation dawns of how much work, time and expense is involved in looking after a pup. The Staffordshire Bull terrier is the most abandoned dog and most charities can no longer take on these bull breeds.
So please think before you are tempted to buy, unless you are really sure you can deal with raising a new member of the family.
If you would like to report an abandoned, lost or stray dog please call the Animal Welfare Officer on 023 9244667
The number is a mobile one for weekends
0791 746 2868
Saturday and Sunday 10am - 4pm.

If you however have space and time and would like to give one of these dogs a foster home this Christmas then council welfare officer would like to hear from you. Please call them on 023 9244667.

I hope I don't see any abandoned dogs. I saw some Jack russell pups were abandoned near London in the news and I was so tempted to go up and rescue them all! I hope people think twice before they buy a pet for Christmas.
