Man charged over fire which destroyed Tesco store

A teenager has been charged with the arson which burned a Tesco store to the ground.

Daniel Eastley, 19, of Botley Drive, Leigh Park, was charged by

detectives following the fire at the store at Grassmere Way, Cowplain,

in Wednesday.

It took several hours to get the blaze under control.

Detective

Constable Emma Cooke said: 'We would like to thank the assistance of

the public with this incident. Their timely phone calls to emergency

services and witness accounts have helped us greatly with this

investigation.'

Mr Eastley will appear before Portsmouth Magistrates Court on Monday July 19.
