Staunton Country Park in Middle Park Way had a suprise waiting for them when they opened yesterday, as somebody had dumped four ferrets and a rabbit outside the gates. The ferrets were running loose in Leigh Park Gardens and the rabbit complete with its hutch was left outside the country park's gates.Yvonne Philbrow, the cleaner at Staunton, was shocked as she arrived for work and saw the hutch. 'I pulled it open and there was a rabbit inside. I was appalled. I don't know how long it had been there, anything could have happened.' She has adopted the rabbit and called him Billy
The white ferrets were rounded up and sent to the RSPCA's Stubbington Ark, sadly one was found to have been run over by a car in Middle Park Way
So please dont dump your animals at the park. If for any reason you cant cope with your pets contact the RSPCA, and they can help.
