Havant Libraries are getting ready and set for this years Summer Reading Challenge.

The theme for 2011 is 'Circus Stars' and your children will recieve a 3D circus stage to build, with stickers to collect along the way and it's all free! It's great fun and my children have participated in the past.

The theme owes more to Cirque due Soleil, the new generation of circuses and the performance arts than the old-fashioned Big Top circus. The Circus Stars razzmatazz starts with six children who have signed up for a contemporary circus skills academy. As they read books, mirrored by children everywhere who are doing the Challenge, they gain new circus skills through three important stages: Practice, Rehearsal and Show Time!

Children can choose any books they want from the library to complete the Circus Stars challenge: story books, information books and audio books all count and every child who completes the challenge is given a medal and certificate. They simply read 6 books and each time you read 2 you get some stickers and some of them are scratch and sniff!

Check out the fun WEBSITE for more games and information on the challenge or watch a YOUTUBE video and find out more about this years challenge.

The Summer Reading Challenge will be running in Havant and Leigh Park Libraries from 18 July to 11 September 2011.

This is a really cool idea - and i'm sure it'll get loads of kids interested in reading. Definitely good for the summer holidays!
